What is Broadband?
Simply put, the term 'broadband' refers to Internet access
that is faster than 56K dialup. The term broadband refers
to any type of transmission technique that carries multiple
voice, video or data channels simultaneously over a common
wire. It is a large pipeline (much bigger than dial-up connection)
that brings information to your home or office. In this
instance, broadband refers to high-speed Internet access
using a wireless antenna creating what is known as a wireless
hotspot, and anyone with a computer with wireless capabilities
can log on.
Improve
Your Productivity
You'll
have less waiting, and more time for the important things
in life. Web pages will load faster. You can send and receive
email much faster. You will get quicker downloads of MP3s,
AVI files, graphics, movies, and more. No phone line needed,
an always-on connection – no busy signals or dial-up
frustrations.
Be
Online 24/7 WITHOUT Tying Up Your Phone Line
Wireless
Internet access provides high-speed access to the Internet
without the use of a phone line. Much like a radio signal,
data is transmitted to and from your computer via antennas.
The data travels from your computer, to an antenna mounted
outside your residence or business, and then proceeds through
a series of antennas placed every three to five miles until
it gets to your Internet provider. Wireless Internet access
is an "always on" technology. This means that
you do not have to wait for your modem to dial up; just
open your Internet browser, and you are on the Internet
within seconds.
Get
Rid of Wires and Create More Mobility
An increasing number of LAN users are becoming
mobile. These mobile users require that they are connected
to the network regardless of where they are because they
want simultaneous access to the network. This makes the
use of cables, or wired LANs, impractical if not impossible.
Wireless LANs are very easy to install. There is no requirement
for wiring every workstation and every room. This ease of
installation makes wireless LANs inherently flexible. If
a workstation must be moved, it can be done easily and without
additional wiring, cable drops or reconfiguration of the
network. Another advantage is its portability. If a company
moves to a new location, the wireless system is much easier
to move than ripping up all of the cables that a wired system
would have snaked throughout the building. Most of these
advantages also translate into monetary savings.
Access
Websites at a Fraction of the Time
Websites today contain more than just text. Photos,
videos, maps, etc..... just about anything you can imagine,
making them difficult to navigate or search. Broadband wireless
Internet can help speed up your connection up to 20 times
faster than dial-up (speeds vary by the plan you choose).
